Indian Ace Abhinav Iyer Strikes Gold
After a span of four years, Indian poker dynamo Abhinav Iyer has shipped the Mini High Roller event at the U Series of Poker (USOP) 2023 Hanoi. The event saw the World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner nail the title and trophy after beating heads-up rival Pierre Husson. Iyer had a payday of VND 830,000,000 (~ ₹28.50 Lakh) for his first-place finish. The runner-up took home VND 515,600,000.
Indian Contenders Shine at the Final Table
When it comes to the final table, two other Indian pros also made quite the splash. Amit Kaushik and Anuj Yadav were among the final table contenders. Kaushik finished fourth for VND 206,000,000 (~ ₹7 Lakh) and Yadav added VND 135,000,000 (~ ₹4.6 Lakh) for his sixth-place finish.
Dramatic Final Hand
In the final hand of the USOP 2023 Hanoi Mini High Roller, Husson went all-in with 65s, and Iyer called holding pocket kings. The chip lead was more than 3:1, and Iyer was looking to end the game with this hand. The dealer fanned out a board of 4c Qd 7d 4h 5s. This gave Iyer two pairs (KK, 44) and his first trophy in four years. Finally, Iyer was crowned the champion of the Mini High Roller event.

From the Brink to Victory
Talking about the Mini High Roller event, it wasn’t an easy one for Iyer to nail. He was down to his last 11 big blinds (BB) at the final table. The Indian pro picked up steam after knocking out Sebastian Mueller with his set of threes. Mueller left in the 8th position, and Iyer was not looking back. The Indian pro was on fire and ended the game for three other players, namely, Dinh Quang Vu (5th), Amit Kaushik (4th), and Pham Bao (3rd).
A Star on the Rise
With such a spectacular game, we hope to see Iyer ship more live titles in the coming time. Not just these Indian pros, we also have Kunal Patni making the final table in Event 3 Deepstack Turbo. Abhinav Iyer’s triumphant return to the winner’s circle is a testament to his skill and determination in the world of poker.
