Can you share a bit about your journey into the world of poker? How did it all start?

Everything started in 2014. I was 18 years old I’ve just finished high school and I decided to send a CV to a poker news site to work as a photographer. It went well and I worked almost 3 years covering events all around the world. Later in 2016, I decided to create my own YouTube channel showing my poker adventures to the world and communicating with people outside the niche what is all really about, trying to change the vision of the game and explaining that it’s a game of skill very funny and interesting in a fresh and different way. Since then I have been a content creator (: In 2021 I became the first Spanish speaker officially sponsored by GGPoker. Now I am a Global ambassador for the #1 poker site in the world!

What was the most challenging aspect of becoming a poker player for you?

Deal with frustration and self-demand. Poker shows you that you are going to make mistakes over and over and you have to deal with it. At the same time, it’s so important to get used to uncertainty. You never know what card is going to appear, the only thing you can control is your decisions.

What is your biggest poker win (live and online)?

I won 4 ladies’ live Events last year for a total of $8,000 and my biggest cash was at WSOP for almost $7,000. I started to play 3 years ago and I do it in a semi-professional way because I spend most of my time creating content.

Can you share a memorable experience or a turning point in your poker career?

This year I did a poker stream commentating with the well known football player Sergio Agüero. It was huge! Very good experiencia to show the game to people from outside this world. Also last month I went to a very big radio show to explain poker rules with a viewership of 30,000 people live. Those moments were so special for me.

Who has been your greatest influence or mentor in your poker journey?

My brother Ivan. He is a professional poker player and he was the one who show me all of this for the first time.

What is your favorite poker variation and why?

Texas Hold’em NL 100% sure! It’s the only one that I barely know how to play!

What are your thoughts on online poker versus live games? Do you have a preference?

I used to say online but now I’m playing a lot of live poker and I find it much more funny. I really like to meet new people and chat at the table. It’s something that you can’t do playing online.

Can you share an interesting story or experience from your travels related to poker?

In 2017 I was in Casino Barcelona walking around with a Neymar Jr. doll to giveaway and suddenly I saw the real one playing at a table! It was embarrasing for me to see him because I was carrying a doll of him!!! So funny. He laughed and I remember that moment as hilarious.

How important is the role of networking and building relationships in the world of poker?

It’s on the top of the list. Social skills are underrated and I think is the best virtue you can have.

How do you balance your professional poker career with your personal life?

Everything is a balace. I really like to spend my time off with friends and family and sleeping. It’s so important to take breaks and not think about poker for awhile. That makes you stronger and makes you play better poker!

Can you shed some light on your strategy for studying poker and improving your game?

I really like to study doing reviews with better players than myself. It’s so important to share thoughts with them. Luckily I have lots of friends who are professional players and are always happy to talk about hands with me.

Can you share a bit about your experience with poker brands and how these partnerships have influenced your career?

I am sponsored by GGPoker and I am part of the proffesional Enjoy Punta del Este Casino team. They helped me so much to grow as content creator and also to reach goals as poker player giving to me the opportunity to play live some huge tournaments that I wouldn’t be able without their support. I am very greatful that I have them and they trust in my content.

What was the biggest lesson you learned in your early days as a poker player?

Poker teaches me everyday. One of the biggest lessons was to have more confidence in myself and understand that we can’t control everything in life. Now I live more relaxed.

As the cards settle and our conversation comes to a close, it’s evident that the world of poker is not just about the hands you’re dealt, but also the stories you weave and the passion you pour into every play. Pamela Balzano, or PAMSI as the poker community reveres her, embodies this spirit. Her insights today have not only shed light on the game’s intricacies but also on the relentless pursuit of excellence that defines her journey both at the table and in content creation.

On behalf of all of us, a heartfelt thank you to PAMSI for sharing her experiences, stories, and wisdom!
